Plymouth MN a Great Family Community

One of my favorite Minneapolis suburbs is Plymouth.  One aspect of the Twin Cities metro that I especially like is that all the communities are great places to live. The schools are excellent and recreation abounds. There are parks everywhere and miles of walking and biking trails. There is all the shopping you could wish for, and entertainment venues to please a wide range of tastes and preferences. We have great restaurants and a couple of nationally recognized bars. And that reputation for Minnesota nice, we deserve it!

Still, even though it’s all good, we can have favorites when choosing where to live. Plymouth is one of mine. Here’s why.

Top-Notch Schools

Plymouth MN is a city for families. Its outstanding schools and recreational opportunities make it a kid’s dream town. Children that live here will enroll in Wayzata, Robbinsdale, Osseo or Hopkins school districts.  Each of these offers a top-notch educational experience. If your children are not school age, there are excellent options for daycare available in the area as well. No matter if your children are toddlers, teens or something in between, Plymouth provides what you need for your family.

Great Metro Access

Plymouth has a great Twin Cities metro location. Living here places you 15 miles from downtown Minneapolis. If you work in the city or enjoy the culture and nightlife in your leisure time, Jump on the expressway, and you are only minutes away. Meanwhile, enjoy the suburban lifestyle.

Perhaps your job takes you to another metro community.  Plymouth MN has excellent connectivity to the entire area so commuting will not be an issue. Access to 494 and 394 opens up the metro in all directions. Should public transit be your preference, express buses will take you to downtown Minneapolis and shuttle service around other metro areas as well.

There is an abundance of shopping in the community. Also, the Ridgedale Mall is just to the west. The trendy Shops in The West End in nearby St. Louis Park to the east are also very popular with all age groups. Both of these options are only minutes away.

Parks and Recreation in Plymouth MN

Thanks to lakes and open spaces, Plymouth is a picturesque community. There are 164 miles of trails and 1,670 acres of parkland available for your year-round recreational pleasure. And also year-round programs, classes, concerts, trips, team sports, and sports instruction for children, adults, and seniors are offered. Additionally, many of the lakes and parks offer affordable boat and bike rentals.  Some of the more popular parks include East Medicine Lake Park, Plymouth Creek Park, Eagle Lake Regional Park and French Regional Park.

If you are interested in walking, hiking, biking, fishing, swimming, horseback riding, canoeing or kayaking, you can do it in Plymouth MN. If you love to watch stuff grow out of the ground, there are 80 community garden plots provided. Also when winter arrives and the snow flies, enjoy sledding, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. Minnesota is the Bold North! Check out the Plymouth MN website and find more information. We just touched on a few of the highlights here.

It should be a surprise to no one that homes in this community are considered desirable properties and high on the list of many home buyers. As one of my uncle’s used to say, “What’s not to like?” Excellent schools, outstanding metro location, endless opportunities for recreation, and friendly people are all attributes most families want. Did we mention that Plymouth was 2008 choice of Money Magazine as the best place to live in America? So there is that too!
